Sun Capital Unit Buys Mark IV Industries

Private equity firm Sun Capital Partners said Wednesday that one of its affiliates completed the acquisition of Mark IV Industries, a manufacturer of automotive and heavy-duty transportation technologies.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mark IV makes engineered systems and components for the worldwide automotive market. Its industrial distribution businesses serve the heavy-duty and off-road vehicle market with power transmission systems and components, as well as the automotive aftermarket.

According to its Web site, Mark IV operates in 16 countries and had fiscal year 2007 revenue of $1.2 billion, with 55% in Europe and 39% in North America.



The company also makes transponders, readers and antennas for electronic toll collection and intelligent vehicle highway systems; integrated on-board vehicle location, monitoring and information systems for railroads and mass transit; high resolution video displays for transportation and fixed installations; and rail, bus and aircraft lighting systems.
