Stewart & Stevenson Reports Fourth-Quarter Profit

ilitary truck maker Stewart & Stevenson Services reported Thursday it earned $5.8 million or 19 cents a share in its fiscal fourth quarter ended Jan. 31, compared with a loss of $8.4 million or 29 cents in its previous fourth quarter.

Fourth-quarter sales rose 42% to $194.8 million, the company said.

It shipped 911 trucks, 553 trailers and 62 armored cabs, compared with 627 trucks, 179 trailers and 270 armored cabs in the previous fourth quarter.



Stewart & Stevenson said in late February it would be acquired for $35 a share by Armor Holdings Inc. (Click here for previous coverage.)
