Stevens Buys 1,200 Reefers from Utility

Refrigerated carrier Stevens Transport Co. said it has purchased 1,200 model 3000R refrigerated trailers from Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. Terms were not disclosed.

Utility Trailer, City of Industry, Calif., produces dry van, reefer, flatbed and curtain-sided trailers.

Stevens Transport, Dallas, operates more than 2,000 tractors and 3,500 Utility reefer units in North America, the trailer maker said.

“Utility’s innovation, strong dealer network and service-ability supersede all others in the industry,” Stevens Transport President Clay Aaron said in a statement. “For over 30 years, we have partnered with Utility to provide our customers with the highest level of quality and service.”



The new trailers Stevens Transport bought have been equipped with SmartWay-verified aerodynamic black side skirts, Utility said.

“We are pleased to support Stevens Transport in the continued success of their business, and we greatly value their loyalty throughout the years,” Craig Bennett, Utility’s senior vice president for sales and marketing, said in a statement.

Stevens Transport is ranked No. 44 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers. . Its shippers include large manufacturers and big-box retailers.
