Spireon has introduced the next generation of its FL Flex tracking devices and IntelliScan cargo sensor under its FleetLocate product line.

The asset-tracking technology supplier said its updated line of Flex devices offers greater flexibility, including options that are faster to install with more power options, are wireless sensor-capable and come with an integrated cargo sensor.

The enhanced IntelliScan cargo sensor adds volumetric capabilities to monitor the amount of available trailer floor space.

Spireon announced the new products Oct. 25 in conjunction with American Trucking Association’s Management Conference & Exhibition in Nashville, Tenn.

The company’s new Flex suite includes a covert option available with wireless sensors and new options for an integrated solar panel and IntelliScan cargo sensor. Flex products can be paired with various wired and wireless sensor options, including a door sensor, automatic tire inflation and tire-pressure monitoring systems, and temperature probe.

This latest generation of trailer management devices works on all types of trailers and has options that can be installed in as little as 10 minutes on empty or loaded trailers, the company said.

The new volumetric-capable sensor uses optical recognition and artificial intelligence to determine not only if the trailer is loaded or unloaded, but the percentage of trailer floor space still available for loading.

Spireon said fleet managers can use this information to optimize trailer floor space, increase backhaul opportunities and improve trailer utilization.
