Hino Trucks announced Shigehiro Matsuoka was appointed CEO of Hino North America.

Matsuoka succeeds Yoshinori Noguchi, who will step down after a six-year tenure as CEO of the North American medium- and heavy-duty truck manufacturer. Noguchi will remain as an executive adviser through March.

Hino is a brand of the Toyota Group.

Most recently, Matsuoka was responsible for support strategy and technical solutions, after sales service, parts operations and global production and parts logistics divisions for Hino Motors Ltd. He joined Hino in 1981.

An initial focus for Matsuoka is the launch execution of the new Classes 7-8 A09-powered Hino XL7 and XL8 series trucks, introduced last spring and nearly ready to enter mass production at Hino Trucks’ newly acquired million-square-foot facility in Mineral Wells, W.Va., according to the company release.

Under Noguchi, Hino had six consecutive record years of truck and parts sales, grew its dealer base by nearly 20%, launched its connected vehicle strategy and certified ultimate dealer program, built a corporate office in Novi, Mich., and purchased the manufacturing facility in Mineral Wells.

Hino manufactures, sells and services a lineup of Classes 4-8 commercial trucks in the United States through a network of 240 dealers. — Transport Topics
