Shevell Group Names Michael Bare CEO

he Shevell Group said late Tuesday it named Michael Bare chief executive officer of the Shevell Group of transportation companies.

The Shevell Group, which includes real estate, trucking and logistics companies, includes New England Motor Freight, Carrier Industries, Eastern Freight Ways, Apex Logistics, New England World Transport and NEMF of Canada.

Bare, a 26-year transportation industry veteran, comes to Shevell from Con-Way Central Express where he was vice president of sales.

He joined Con-Way in 1984 shortly after its startup and was instrumental in that company’s Midwest expansion and in revitalizing Con-Way’s Northeast presence, Shevell said in a statement.

Bare earned a transportation degree at the University of Akron before beginning his career at United Parcel Service in 1977.

The Shevell Group is ranked No. 52 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
