The Senate on July 14 confirmed Blair Anderson to be undersecretary for policy at the Department of Transportation.

“I would like to thank the Senate for confirming Blair Anderson,” Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said.

“At both NHTSA and DOT’s budget office, Blair has proven himself a skilled leader, and I am confident that he will excel as undersecretary. The department has critical policy issues to work on in the months ahead, such as autonomous vehicle guidance, implementation of the FAST Act and measures to ensure that transportation projects expand opportunity for all Americans.”

Anderson was nominated May 10 for the undersecretary job. He had been deputy administrator at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Before NHTSA, Anderson was acting chief financial officer at DOT, and before that, he was the senior adviser for budget and programs at the agency from April to October 2013. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Princeton University.
