Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will be promoting his policy priorities when he speaks at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, D.C., on March 16.

The secretary will be at the think tank for a discussion about the Department of Transportation’s recent “Beyond Traffic” report, a 30-year outlook on transportation.

“Every year, trucks are losing $27 billion on wasted time and fuel,” according to the study, which also noted that the country’s multimodal freight system, “once the envy of the world,” is increasingly unable to meet the needs of a growing population and a changing economy.

“The national government has an interest in the country being able to move freight freely, effectively, efficiently and safely,” Foxx told Transport Topics last month.

The event, accessible via webcast, begins at 6 p.m. Foxx again will highlight the report when he take parts in a forum hosted by National Journal magazine at the Newseum on March 19.
