Second-Quarter Productivity Rises 1.6%

orker productivity rose at a revised 1.6% annual rate in the second quarter, up from an initially-reported increase of 1.1%, the Labor Department reported Wednesday.

The 1.6% increase follows a 4.3% jump in the first quarter

The second-quarter rate was in line with economists’ forecasts, Bloomberg reported.



Productivity is a measure of how much an employee produces for every hour of work.

Among manufacturers, productivity rose at a revised 2.6% rate, down from an initially-reported 3% increase.

The decline follows a revised 3.7% increase in the first quarter.
