chneider National will eliminate about 170 jobs as part of a company-wide staff realignment, the truckload carrier said Wednesday in a statement.

The Green Bay, Wis., carrier also said it would redeploy 85 employees to other areas of its business.

About 120 of the positions to be eliminated are located at the company’s Green Bay headquarters, Schneider said.

The carrier said the cuts follow recent acquisitions that increased its workforce by more than 1,100 employees globally, prompting the staff realignment.

“We regularly review and adjust our staffing levels to most efficiently meet our strategic business objectives," said Tim Fliss, executive vice president of human resources for Schneider. "A recent review led to the redeployment of a number of associates, scaled back hiring in some departments, and certain role reductions.”

Schneider National is ranked No. 8 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest for hire carriers in the United States and Canada.
