Truckload carrier Schneider National said Tuesday it will expand a regional service it started in Western states earlier this year over the next few years, with its most immediate expansion plans including Texas and the Southeast.

Launched in January, the Schneider Regional division was created to meet its customers’ growing short-haul shipping demands, the company said.

The new Schneider Regional service is already providing service to the seven-state area of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Its fleet, which has grown to 600 units, is based out of regional centers in Fontana, Calif.; Portland, Ore.; Salt Lake City; and French Camp, Calif. These centers serve as hubs for drivers dedicated solely to Schneider Regional.

Marc Rogers, who joined Schneider after running Knight Transportation’s largest operating division, is heading up leading Schneider’s new Regional offering.

Schneider is ranked No. 8 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
