MCSA Administrator Annette Sandberg will stay in her position through March 31, even though she has resigned and had planned to step down on March 1.

It is my pleasure to announce that Annette Sandberg has agreed to stay on as [FMCSA Administrator] through the end of March," Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta wrote in a broadcast note to agency employees.

Sandberg became the head of FMCSA in January 2003 in the role of acting administrator, and was nominated by President Bush to be the full-time agency chief in March of that year.

The Senate confirmed that nomination and she was sworn in as FMCSA administrator in August 2003.
