Ryder Orders Heavy-Duty Natural Gas Trucks

Ryder System has ordered 202 heavy-duty natural gas trucks, which it will deploy to southern California later this year.

The vehicles are part a project with the San Bernardino Association Governments to launch a natural gas rental and leasing program there, Ryder said in a statement Thursday.

Ryder will also upgrade existing maintenance facilities to service the new vehicles and construct two natural gas fueling stations, it said.

Ryder will begin taking delivery of the vehicles in April and will have all of them in service by September.

Ryder is ranked No. 5 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
