Rush Enterprises Reports Higher Profit on Truck Sales Growth

ush Enterprises Inc., the nation’s largest dealer of Peterbilt Motors trucks, reported second-quarter net income of $11.2 million or 45 cents a share, up from $4.1 million or 26 cents per share in the same quarter last year.

The company’s truck segment recorded revenue of $442.5 million for the quarter, up from $253.3 million a year earlier.

Rush said it delivered 2,469 new heavy-duty trucks in the quarter, up from 1,283 a year earlier.



It also delivered 681 medium-duty trucks, up from 433 a year earlier, and 874 used trucks, compared with 647 last year.

Rush's truck parts, service and body shop sales rose 28.2% to $86.3 million.

“Our outlook remains positive as manufacturer’s Class 8 order intake has rebounded from the low 20,000 range in the spring to near 30,000 in June,” said Marvin Rush, the company's chairman and chief executive officer.
