Rush Enterprises said it has acquired Piedmont International Trucks, which operates commercial truck dealerships in North Carolina, for about $3.5 million.

The acquisition includes International and Idealease franchises and locations in Asheville, Hickory and Statesville, N.C., Rush said in a statement.

The new dealership locations will operate as part of Rush’s Navistar division.

The company said that with the added dealerships it will operate 81 truck centers in 15 states, adding that the deal expands its leasing capabilities.

“Acquiring additional service points in North Carolina demonstrates our commitment to expand service solutions for our customers wherever they operate,” said Rush CEO W. M. “Rusty” Rush.

Rush Enterprises is the only major publicly traded U.S. truck dealership, specializing in Peterbilt and Navistar Class 8 tractors. Last year, Rush bought several Navistar dealerships in Ohio.
