Retailers, Carriers Team to Clean Ports’ Air

A national retail association and coalition of truckers, shippers, importers and exporters have formed a partnership to improve the air quality in the nation’s ports.

Members of the Retail Industry Leaders Association and the Coalition for Responsible Transportation said their partnership, formalized last week, will expand upon CRT’s attempts to “leverage the market power of America’s largest shippers to make further reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.”

CRT also has been involved in the development and implementation of industry-supported clean truck programs across the country, including the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach and Oakland, Calif.; Seattle and Tacoma, Wash.; and New York/New Jersey.
