U.S. retail sales rose 0.1% in February, the Commerce Department reported Tuesday.Cold weather helped depress sales and the uptick was less than economists’ forecast of a 0.3% increase, Bloomberg reported. Sales excluding motor vehicles and gasoline fell 0.3%, the most in almost three years.Filling station sales rose 1.2%, while sales at auto dealers and parts stores rose 0.9%.Almost all trucking operations depend on the health of retail sales because such sales involve nearly every type of cargo.
