Retail sales fell for a second straight month in June, slipping 0.5%, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

The downturn followed May’s 1.1% gain that was slightly smaller than originally reported.

Economists had forecast June sales would slip 0.3%, Bloomberg reported.

Almost all trucking operations depend on the health of retail sales because such sales involve nearly every type of cargo.
