Regulators Delay Implementing Hazmat Driver Rule to Jan. 31

he Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has delayed implementing a rule that would restrict states from issuing permits to carry hazardous materials until drivers have been cleared by the Transportation Security Administration.

FMCSA’s rule, initially scheduled to take effect in April, has been put off until Jan. 31, the agency said in a notice in the Aug. 20 Federal Register.

TSA is scheduled to start collecting driver fingerprints in January.
