Quality’s Fourth-Quarter Income Rises

Tank truck carrier Quality Distribution said its fourth-quarter profit rose from a year ago on stronger energy logistics and intermodal business.

Net income was $5.7 million, or 21 cents per share, compared with $5.5 million, or 22 cents, a year earlier. Revenue rose 20.5% to $215.4 million.

For the full year, Quality earned $50.1 million, or $1.84 per share, compared with $23.4 million, or 96 cents, in 2011. Revenue climbed 13% to $842.1 million.

Revenue from the energy logistics segment rose to $39.1 million from $29.4 million in the prior year. Intermodal segment revenue rose 9.8% to $31.4 million.
