Quality Distribution Posts 2Q Loss

Quality Distribution reported a $31.1 million second-quarter loss on a $55.7 million charge to its energy logistics business.

The loss compared with a profit of $28.8 million for the same quarter last year. The company lost $1.18 per share, compared with a profit of $1.04 a year ago.

Revenue rose 12.5% to $239.3 million, the tank truck carrier said. Adjusted net income was $5.3 million, or 20 cents a share, compared with $6.5 million, or 24 cents, a year ago.

Quality Distribution is ranked No. 35 on the Transport Topics Top 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
