Qualcomm’s Earnings, Revenue Jump in Second Fiscal Quarter

ireless-services provider Qualcomm Inc. said late Wednesday that net income its second fiscal quarter ended march 26 rose to $593 million or 34 cents a share, from $532 million or 32 cents a year earlier.

Revenue jumped 34% to $1.83 billion year-over-year, Qualcomm said in a statement.

The company’s Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions unit shipped about 8,200 satellite-based systems in the quarter, including its OmniTracs and TruckMail systems for mobile in-cab communications. That compared with 8,800 units a year earlier and 11,800 in the first fiscal quarter.



QWBS shipped about 8,000 terrestrial-based systems, including OmniExpress, GlobalTracs and T2 Untethered TrailerTracs for tracking trailers, compared with 13,800 a year earlier and 15,100 in the first quarter.
