QualaWash Acquires PSC

Tanker-cleaning service QualaWash Holdings LLC said it acquired PSC Container Services for an undisclosed sum.

QualaWash, Tampa, Fla., is owned by private equity firm KLH Capital. Mark Hunter, a partner at KLH, told Transport Topics the PSC deal added 20 locations to the QualaWash network, which now totals 53.

Hunter said that the PSC deal almost doubles QualaWash’s annual revenue, and the combined business employs about 600 people.

QualaWash was formerly a subsidiary of bulk and tanker carrier Quality Distribution Inc. Quality spun off QualaWash in 2009.

The PSC deal allows QualaWash to offer more “environmental risk mitigation” services such as disposal of toxic materials left in tankers and containers that come in for cleaning, Hunter said.

“The acquisition of PSC allows us to be a truly comprehensive nationwide provider,” said Hunter.

The PSC acquisition is the second buyout QualaWash has completed in the last six months. The other, announced in August, was for Manfredi Special Services, based in Cleveland. Buying Manfredi expanded QualaWash’s ability to offer cleaning services for “totes,” which are shipping containers used to transport liquids or other bulk commodities.
