Professional Transportation Group Retrenches

Citing overly rapid expansion as a problem, Professional Transportation Group (TRUC) will trim its payroll and refocus its efforts on expedited air freight.

Based in Marietta, Ga., PTG will layoff 20 non-driver employees from its headquarters staff. The Oct. 6 announcement also said there is a possibility for change in its debt structure.

Chief Executive Dennis A. Bakal said his workforce has more than doubled over the last six months because of internal growth and the May acquisition of Dedicated Transportation. He went on to say, “This is an ideal time for us to eliminate redundancies and adapt our organization to serve the market that was the company’s original focus.”
