ffects from the recent hurricanes on oil and gas production are also hurting manufacturers who use those commodities, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

Producers of everything from tires to building materials, furniture and even golf balls are feeling the pinch of higher prices for raw materials, the paper said.

Hurricane Rita, which hit the Texas-Louisiana border, brought down some chemical plants that produce a key chemical used in foam bedding and furniture, the Journal said.

Automotive parts supplies are also being affected by the storm, with higher resin and other potential shortages in foam for seats, it reported.
