Richard Kolodziej, president of NGVAmerica for 18 years, will retire after a replacement is selected by the board of directors, the association said.

Kolodziej, 67, will stay on as an advisor to the natural gas-vehicle organization to ensure a smooth transition, NGVAmerica said in a statement.

“I believe now is the right time for NGVAmerica’s transition to new staff leadership to position the association to serve the needs of this rapidly expanding industry,” Kolodziej said in a statement.

“It has been an honor and privilege to lead NGVAmerica during these past 18 years,” Kolodziej said.  “NGVs have gone from a niche application to a recognized and essential part of America’s transportation system. Today, the NGV industry is poised for historic growth in both traditional on-road markets and new non-road markets — like off-road, marine and rail.”

NGVAmerica represents companies, environmental groups and government organizations interested in the promotion and use of natural gas and biomethane as transportation fuels.
