ighway patrol officers in Arizona will conduct on Wednesday special inspections of commercial vehicles on Interstate 10 to check for safety violations, fatigued drivers, seat belt usage and possible homeland security concerns, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the inspections are being held in anticipation of increased commercial traffic driven by a desire to move cargo prior to the Labor Day holiday weekend, AP said.

Officers will conduct the inspections on a roving basis across 56 miles of I-10 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Authorities will also maintain a stationary inspection site at the Burnt Wells rest area, AP reported.
