PHH Sets Safety Modeling Service

PHH FirstFleet Tuesday said it launched a new predictive modeling service for driver safety analysis and training for private fleets.

The system uses techniques to predict which drivers’ behaviors are likely to cause accidents, which helps prevent those collisions from occurring, PHH said.

“According to PHH FirstFleet’s 2007 Fleet Managers’ Survey, which identifies the needs of senior fleet operations managers annually, driver safety and retention are two of today’s leading industry concerns,” said Mike Lewis, PHH’s president.

The firm has partnered with FleetRisk Advisors to develop a new approach to gauging truck risk and safety.

PHH said the predictive modeling service has shown benefits in client pilot testing, including reducing overall frequency by 23%; lowering average accident costs by 66%; lowering the severity of related accident costs by 67%; and improving driver turnover to 42% from 84%.
