Personal Spending, Incomes Gain in April

Consumer personal spending rose 0.2% in April, the Commerce Department said Friday.

The increase followed a 0.4% gain in March, Commerce said.

The increase matched economists’ forecasts, Bloomberg reported.

Personal incomes grew by 0.2%, more than the 0.1% forecast, Bloomberg said.

An increase in consumer spending could increase demand for new factory goods and the trucking shipments that get them to stores.
