PeopleNet Adds Wi-Fi for In-Cab Scanning from Pegasus TransTech

SAN DIEGO — Onboard computing provider PeopleNet said it has added Wi-Fi capabilities for its in-cab scanning offerings from Pegasus TransTech.

Drivers can now scan and transmit documents such as bills of lading remotely using a Wi-Fi network, which can reduce costs and save time, the companies said.

“By empowering drivers to transmit information in this manner, it eliminates the need to find a location offering scanning services, which can take a driver off route, or choosing to mail documents to the back office, which adds extra time,” Tom Dorazio, PeopleNet’s director of product management, said in a statement.

Frank Adelman, CEO at Pegasus TransTech, said the new feature offers two settings, enabling drivers to send a document only when attached to a Wi-Fi network, or to first try to send the information via Wi-Fi, and if unavailable, to use the cellular network.
