Penske Adding LED Headlights to 5,000 Semi-Trucks

Penske Truck Leasing is retrofitting 5,000 of its semi-trucks with advanced LED headlights, the company said.

The LED Truck-Lite headlights the company plans on using were originally developed for the military and have been used in vehicles serving in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2007.

According to Penske, the lights last 50 times longer than conventional halogen technology and reduce eyestrain for drivers.

The company said it plans on making Truck-Lite LED headlights part of its core standard specifications for its commercial truck rental fleet and will be installing them over the next 12 months.
