Panther Files for Initial Public Offering

Panther Expedited Services said it has filed for an initial public offering with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Panther plans to trade under the symbol PTHR, and the number and price of shares to be offered have not been determined, the expedited transportation and freight logistics company said in a statement.

Founded in 1992 as a just-in-time automotive industry supplier, Panther has expanded to include third-party carriers, air and ocean freight forwarders, the Associated Press reported.

In May, Roadrunner Transportation Systems completed trucking’s first IPO since 2005, and in July, Swift Holdings Corp., which used to be public, also filed for an IPO.

Panther is the third-largest firm among U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers in the Transport Topics 100’s air/expedited category.
