Pacer’s First-Quarter Income, Revenue Rise

ransportation and third-party logistics firm Pacer International’s first-quarter net income rose 22% to $13.9 million or 36 cents a share, from $11.4 million or 30 cents a year ago.

Revenue rose 4% to $469.4 million for the quarter ended April 7, the company said late Tuesday.

In a conference call, the company’s management reiterated its 2006 guidance of $1.65 to $1.75 per share, analyst Ed Wolfe of Bear Stearns reported in an e-mail to clients.



Wholesale operations, including rail transportation for containers, saw a 19% revenue increase to $313.3 million, offsetting a 13.8% decline in retail revenue to $202.9 million.
