Orbcomm Launches Chassis-Tracking Product

SAN DIEGO — Orbcomm Inc. has launched a new chassis-tracking device, expanding its lineup of asset-tracking products for the transportation industry.

The new GT 1100 Chassis Tracking Solution enables companies to monitor the location of their chassis fleets, while also using a proximity sensor to determine whether or not a container is mounted on the chassis as it moves across the supply chain.

That information can help transportation companies improve asset utilization and improve chassis turn times, Orbcomm said, adding that the tracking product can also enable more accurate billing and better lane and yard planning.

The chassis-tracking product connects to either the tractor’s power source or the device’s solar rechargeable battery.

Orbcomm unveiled the new GT 1100-CTS at American Trucking Associations’ annual Management Conference & Exhibition, held here Oct. 4-7.

Orbcomm also offers tracking products for dry and refrigerated trailers, rail, intermodal containers and gensets.
