Orbcomm to Acquire Skygistics

Asset-tracking firm Orbcomm has agreed to acquire South Africa-based Skygistics, a provider of satellite and cellular connectivity and telematics products.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition of Skygistics will add distribution and customer support in sub-Saharan Africa for Orbcomm’s range of products and services.

“Adding incremental products and services to Skygistics’ infrastructure will build a stronger presence on the African continent, which is an important growing market,” Orbcomm CEO Marc Eisenberg said.

The transaction is expected to close in May.
