Old Dominion’s Fourth-Quarter Profit Rises

Less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line’s fourth-quarter profit rose 21.5% to $17.8 million or 48 cents a share, from $14.7 million or 39 cents a year earlier.Revenue rose 12% to $319.4 million, the company said Thursday.For the full year, the company’s net income rose 35.7% to $72.6 million or $1.95 per share, from $53.5 million or $1.43 in 2005. Revenue jumped 20.5% to $1.28 billion.LTL tons rose 10.6% in the quarter, while total shipments rose 12.7%, the company saidOld Dominion Freight Line is ranked No. 24 on the Transport Topics list of 100 top for-hire North American carriers.
