Old Dominion Freight Line’s First-Quarter Profit Jumps

ld Dominion Freight Line said Thursday its first-quarter net income rose almost 40% to $13 million or 35 cents a share, from $9.3 million or 25 cents a year earlier.

The less-than-truckload carrier’s revenue rose 23.2% to a record $291.6 million.

ODFL boosted its annual guidance to $1.76 to $1.84 per share and its second-quarter guidance to 43 to 46 cents. Its previous full-year guidance was $1.74 to $1.82 per share.

LTL tons rose 20.6% in the quarter, the company said.

Old Dominion Freight Line is ranked No. 28 on the Transport Topics list of 100 top for-hire North American carriers.
