Old Dominion Freight Line Reports Record 4Q, Year

ld Dominion Freight Line said Friday its fourth-quarter and year-end results reached record levels, reporting 4Q net income of $14.7 million or 39 cents a share, from $10.6 million or 28 cents a year earlier.

The less-than-truckload carrier’s revenue for the quarter was $285.2 million, up 27.3% from a year earlier.

The carrier’s profit for the full year was $53.9 million or $1.45 a share, from $39 million or $1.06 in 2004. Revenue rose 28.8% to $1.1 billion.



ODFL set its 2006 earnings guidance at $1.74 to $1.82 per share. The company had previously raised its full-year 2005 guidance to $2.11 to $2.14 a share. (Click here for previous coverage.)

The results reflected the company’s three-for-two stock split in November, ODFL said. (Click here for previous coverage.)

LTL tons rose 20.8% in the quarter, the company said.

Old Dominion Freight Line is ranked No. 28 on the Transport Topics list of 100 top for-hire North American carriers.
