Oil Slides to Below $69 a Barrel

rude oil fell to below $69 a barrel Friday after Iran called a meeting with United Nations officials positive, Bloomberg reported.

Benchmark light sweet crude oil futures slid 92 cents to $68.45 a barrel at the close of New York Mercantile Exchange trading.

Iran, OPEC’s second-largest producer behind Saudi Arabia, signaled it may allow UN inspectors access to its disputed nuclear program, Bloomberg said.



Oil closed below $70 all week after topping $70 for most of last week. Last Friday, futures closed at $72.04.

This week marks the first since the week of April 10 in which oil has closed at below $70 for the entire week.
