Oil Declines to End Week Below $96 a Barrel

Oil fell $1.45 on Friday to finish the trading week below $96 a barrel, after holding above $97 the previous four days, Bloomberg News reported.

Crude futures closed the New York Mercantile Exchange trading day at $95.86 a barrel, Bloomberg reported, the lowest level in a week.

The price declined following Friday’s report that factory output declined in January and that Wal-Mart Stores’ sales were slow to start the month, Bloomberg said.

Diesel and has jumped 17.7 cents in the past two weeks to $4.10 a gallon, while gasoline has soared more than a quarter to $3.61, according to the Department of Energy.



DOE will release its weekly price survey of filling stations on Tuesday afternoon in Washington, due to the federal holiday on Monday.
