Officials Expect FMCSA to Issue New Regulations in 2006

he Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is expected to issue several important new regulations this year, including an intermodal chassis maintenance rule and guidance on the use of electronic onboard recorders, agency sources and industry executives told Transport Topics last week.

The chassis rule is one of several regulations included in the highway funding act signed into law last year.

“There’s clearly a number of rulemakings that are going to come out of SAFETEA-LU,” said Dave Osiecki, American Trucking Associations’ vice president for safety and security operations.
