ODFL's David Congdon Receives North Carolina Award

David Congdon, executive chairman of Old Dominion Freight Line, received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award on April 22.

Bestowed by North Carolina governors, the award recognizes people who have made significant contributions to the state and their communities through service. The award ceremony was attended by North Carolina House of Representatives Speaker Tim Moore and North Carolina Trucking Association Chairman Keith Barnes.

Congdon, whose grandparents founded Old Dominion Freight Line, has been active in the Chamber of Commerce, the North Carolina Trucking Association and the Piedmont Triad Partnership.

Based in Thomasville, N.C., Old Dominion Freight Line ranks No. 8 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America.
