NTSB: Truckers Need Free Parking Guide

The National Transportation Safety Board says part of the truck parking problem is that when all the usual spaces are filled, drivers do not know where to go after a day on the road.

The board wants industry trade groups and the government to work on a guide to truck parking that would be distributed for free, but some in the industry say big rig drivers have enough ways of locating a rest area or truck stop.

The safety board says a comprehensive guide is necessary for when both those options come up short.

n a study of truck parking availability released May 17, the NTSB found truck parking shortages were a localized problem (5-22, p. 5).
