Norfolk Southern’s 2Q Profit Drops

Norfolk Southern Corp. said its second-quarter profit dropped 6%, but income from railway operations rose 7% to $934 million.

Net income dropped to $524 million, or $1.60 per share, from $557 million, or $1.56, a year ago.

Revenue was flat at $2.9 billion, the Eastern freight railroad said.

Intermodal revenue rose 4% to $563 million.
