Nikola, PGT Trucking Collaborate on FCEVs

Nikola Corp. announced a collaboration with PGT Trucking Inc. that includes a letter of intent from the flatbed carrier to lease 100 Nikola Tre heavy-duty fuel cell electric vehicles following the satisfactory completion of a Nikola Tre FCEV demonstration program.
The Nikola Tre FCEV cabover has an anticipated range of up to 500 miles.
The lease order will include the truck, scheduled maintenance and hydrogen fueling solutions, according to Phoenix-based Nikola.

“It is the forward-thinking and strategic partnerships, like we have with Nikola, that allow us to cultivate transportation advancements,” PGT President Gregg Troian said in a release.
“This partnership will give us the opportunity to offer progressive transportation solutions to our customers, while aligning with corporate-driven sustainability initiatives, and reducing their carbon footprint using innovative energy sources.”
Deliveries of the trucks to PGT are anticipated to begin in 2023 when production commences at Nikola’s Coolidge, Ariz., manufacturing facility.
PGT trucking ranks No. 99 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America.
