Nikola Corp. announced it added Alta Equipment Group to its emerging dealer network for its heavy-duty battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell trucks, which are under development.

Alta plans to represent sales and service locations in New York, New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania and other select areas in the New England region, according to Phoenix-based Nikola.

“The northeastern region of the United States has quickly become a crucial territory for Nikola as states move forward with setting goals in reducing greenhouse gases related to transportation,” said Pablo Koziner, president of energy and commercial at Nikola, in a release. “Alta Equipment and their leadership team have demonstrated a strong desire to participate in the transition to zero-emission Class 8 trucks with their eMobility strategy. We are extremely excited about this new partnership.”

Koziner noted Nikola’s dealer network had grown to 116 locations prior to the announcement with Alta.

Alta CEO Ryan Greenawalt said, “We view the Class 8 market as having strong long-term potential and an excellent fit with our commercial vehicle eMobility growth strategy.”

Alta has operated as an equipment dealership for 37 years and has a branch network of 55 total locations across Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, New England, New York, Virginia and Florida. — Transport Topics
