Newton Promoted by Arkansas Trucking Association

The Arkansas Trucking Association said June 11 it has promoted Shannon Newton to be its new president.

An 11-year veteran of the Little Rock-based association, Newton has been its vice president since 2008 and the change is effective immediately.

“Shannon is a dynamic leader and extremely knowledgeable on the complex issues faced by our members. The board was unanimous in this appointment,” said Craig Harper, chairman of the ATA board of directors and Chief Operating Officer of J.B. Hunt Transport Services.

Newton has worked on planning, finance, member services, governance, regulatory and legislative affairs and advocacy for the association. She also serves as chair of the trucking association’s insurance council.

Newton is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas. She lives in Bryant, Arkansas, with her husband of 10 years, Josh. They have three children.

She succeeds Lane Kidd as association president. He resigned earlier this year.
