New York Manufacturing Index Jumps in June

anufacturing growth increased in New York state in June, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York reported Monday.

The regional Fed’s “Empire State index” jumped to a reading of 29 from 12.9 in May. Readings above zero indicate expansion.

The level was well below economists’ forecast of a decline to 11, Bloomberg reported. Manufacturing is one of trucking’s largest and most important customers.
