New NFI Distribution Center to Create 170 Jobs Over 5 Years

NFI Industries will spend $7.2 million to establish a 622,830-square-foot distribution center in Smyrna, Tenn., which will create nearly 170 new jobs over the next five years, according to an announcement from Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam.

The Cherry Hill, N.J., trucking and logistics provider already operates two other locations near Smyrna in Nashville.

The new Smyrna location will serve as a distribution and fulfillment center for customers throughout the Southeast.

“NFI continues to grow rapidly, and we are excited to bring this new location to the Nashville area,” NFI President and Vice Chairman Jeff Brown said. “The Smyrna operation is a great example of NFI’s ability to leverage its commercial real estate expertise and network to secure a location with its distribution operations to manage the facility and deliver a comprehensive solution for our customers.”

Rutherford County officials and the Tennessee Valley Authority applauded NFI for its investment in Rutherford County.

“Tennessee’s central location and deep pool of skilled workers make our state the ideal home for companies like NFI to operate major distribution facilities. This new operation in Smyrna brings us one step closer to making Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high-quality jobs,” Haslam added.

NFI ranks No. 27 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 14 on the TT Top 50 list of the largest logistics companies in North America.
