New Home Sales Fall in June

New home sales fell 0.6% in June, the Commerce Department said Friday.

Sales fell to an annual pace of 530,000, from a revised 533,000 in May that was higher than previously reported, Commerce said.

The decline was smaller than the drop forecast by economists, Bloomberg reported.

Rising home sales can mean more business for flatbed trucking companies that haul building materials and dry van freight carriers that haul household appliances and furni-ture.

New home sales account for about 15% of residential real estate sales.
